The Braille Association of Mid-Florida, Inc. is a non-profit organization made up of a group of volunteers from the Orlando area and beyond. We are dedicated to providing Brailled reading material to visually impaired people wherever they may live. A volunteer group was formed in 1965 as Orange County Braillists. In 1969, the group obtained a federal tax-exempt designation and was renamed Braille Association of Mid-Florida, Inc. Today we have about 50 enthusiastic members.
Our goal is to provide textbooks and other reading material to visually impaired students at all grade levels, including pre-school and adult. We strive towards this goal by teaching volunteers how to transcribe print materials into Braille. These materials are then embossed and assembled into book form, and ultimately sent on to the people who require these unique books.
